Technical Problems in the Pipline

Due to ongoing technical problems with the existing template, which did not allow the posts to be displayed, we'll have to make do with this "emergency" skin template first. We sincerely apologize for that. We'll try to revert to our original skin or create a new one from scratch as soon as possible.

A Sensual Retreat - Dempsey Hill

Hello guys! Guess! Where's the next destination that we ought to visit? Hint: it's atop a hill. No prizes for those of you who have guessed correctly! Yes, it definitely has gotta be:

Photobucket

This is currently the hippiest place where yuppies, a term for young working professionals, want to be seen hanging out at. Families also love this place as it offers something that appeals to each and every member, be it adult or child.
DO YOU KNOW?
That Dempsey Hill is actually located in Tanglin Village. Well, now you do. Let's find out more about the history of Tanglin Village:

Singapore is a well-known international food paradise and a shopping haven. And these two traits are actually manifested here. Visitors are spoilt for choices when it comes to dining options at Dempsey Hill. Choices available here range from the local seafood specialties restaurant, Jumbo, to the high-end posh The Prime Society. I shall let the pictorials below do the talking.

Al-fresco dining is hugely popular here as Tanglin Village, formerly Tanglin Barracks, set amidst lush and verdant surroundings, retains its rustic charms as an urban haven where city dwellers can enjoy a welcome respite from the hustle and bustle of the city. And with so many and various dining options to select from, I bet you are gonna have a hard time deciding on one!

After you have had your filling and wonderful meal, you can take a stroll along the pathways to aid digestion, and most importantly, experience the luxurious greenery and take in the sights and sounds of nature under the moonlight and dim lamp lights. Like this couple had done.

Ice-cream fans, scream! This section is dedicated to you! Head on down to Ben & Jerry's Scoop Shop at The Ranch Home to get your favourite flavour right now!

Aside from the soulful and wholesome food at CA * California and super-premium Ben & Jerry's ice-cream, The Ranch Home also boasts of their very own fully-stocked bar. One can indulge in CA's specially-concocted thick shakes with a tinge of alcohol, blended with the most euphoric ice-cream – Ben & Jerry's.

The Ranch Home, which has a gorgeous and cosy homely interior as well as a romantic and country ambience, is great for numerous events such as birthday celebrations, get-together sessions with friends and families, girls' night out, boys' night out or even a first date. Corporate events were also held there before.

You are able to purchase Ben & Jerry's merchandise too!

Wine aficionados, this is especially for you! There's Wine Network and Wine Oenophile for you to go to purchase vintage and high-quality wines from or to simply take a sip of wine to 'pick up the grapes'.

For those to love to chill out at bars and have a drink of martini to soothe frazzled nerves after a long day at work, you'll be delighted to know the presence of Angel's Share and Hacienda which both provide indoor and al-fresco sections for smoking and non-smoking customers to pick their preferred one. These are two places they can certainly relish in.

While Mummy and Daddy are enjoying themselves in the bar, the children would be able to let their hair down at Go-Go Bambini, which is located right next to Ben & Jerry's The Ranch Home. Go-Go Bambini is a unique concept based on the proven success of the “pay for play” industry first developed in the USA during the early 90’s. Parents can leave their children there to play while they do their things, such as grocery-shopping, first before picking them up. Also, something interesting about the play-place is that adults can actually join in the fun along with their kids. If they don't wish to, there's nail spa services, books and a cafe which serves excellent coffees for them to take delight in while the young ones are at play.

As mentioned above, our city is a great place for shopping. This includes Dempsey Hill too, of course!

Photobucket

L'organic sells organic stuff which health-conscious and like-it-all-natural consumers would take delight in. It stocks a wide range of products imported from various countries such as United States, New Zealand, Denmark and many more.
Two other gourmet supermarkets are:

Besides shopping for groceries, you can also shop at this quainty little boutique that sells vintage apparel.

Photobucket

There are more of such shops down the street. These shops are definitely a hit with fashionistas for they fear owning the same piece of clothing as another person simply because these boutiques carry only one piece per design. Due to this exclusiveness, the clothes are highly-priced.
Photobucket

This above boutique stocks designer wear imported straight from Italy, the capital of high fashion.
For those with refined tastes and appreciate art, you would be thrilled to know that there are a handful of galleries and boutiques which sell tasteful art pieces and beautiful paintings. Proud home owners would also benefit from the furniture shops here which sells designer or antique pieces and carpets, textiles and rugs too.

Red Sea Gallery is also an art school where creative art lessons for children and contemporary painting classes for adults are conducted.
Interestingly, another educational place is also located in this area.

Guys, I think I have basically covered all the highlights of Dempsey Hill. Do check it out yourselves! It's a spot well-loved by by tourists and locals alike.

ZOO and NIGHT SAFARI

Singapore Zoological Gardens and The Night Safari

Did you know that Singapore’s Night Safari is the world’s FIRST wildlife park built for visits at night? Also did you know that the Singapore Zoological Gardens is acclaimed one of the world’s most SPECTACULAR zoos?

Impressed with the facts? Don’t just take my word for it. What are you waiting for? If you want a taste of it, let us embark on this journey together and let me take you through this fun-filled experience!

Our first destination is the zoo. The Singapore zoo is an attractive destination for families. I am sure the kids would enjoy the experience as their naturally curious minds would make them hyper active through out the journey. When I was there with my little cousin, she was so excited to see the different species of animals and could not wait to discover more!

Upon arrival, the service provider will take a picture of you and your loved ones, which you can collect after the whole tour. You just have to go to the entrance and you can print it out, but of course there is a price to pay for it. But the experience is what matters right?

Haven’t had your breakfast yet? Then come join the animals for breakfast! With the otters, python and Orang utan in close proximity, it was a wild breakfast I will never forget!

Go on board the tram to have an overview of the attractions. Plus, it will be an educational tour as it provides information about the animals. However, taking the tram was not adventurous enough for me! I got my feet up so that I will be able to take in the splendid view of the whole zoo.
If it is raining, don’t fret! There are ponchos available and also sheltered walkways to keep you dry. What makes Singapore Zoo unique is the “open” concept providing home to more than 3600 species.

The zoo has been sensitive enough to provide services for the physically disabled. This attracts many tourists as it caters to almost everyone with the facilities available. It also has ‘kidzworld’ which recently just opened. Where the kids can have fun! With facilities like the playground, amphitheatre and enjoyable rides the kids will definitely have an exciting time. It obviously was fun for my little cousin!

Enough about the facilities, let’s talk about the main attraction. The animals of course! Exploring the whole place was really exhilarating for me! From the Reptile garden to Cat Country, next to Wild Africa and Primate Kingdom. Here's a sneak peak of what's in store!

If it is already evening but you are still full of energy, then come to the night safari, located just beside the Zoological Gardens! The tram ride comes with the package. I have to say it is worth the price. I board the tram as it is needed to reach most places that are not within walking distance. Besides, it is already night time and I sure don't want to get lost! The tram ride provided will take you on an exciting trail throughout the safari. There are pit stops enabling you to do some exploring yourself. Seeing the nocturnal animals continue their activities still past evening or just lunging for their preys, was definitely an eye-opener for me!

There are three trails namely the Fishing Cat, Leapord Trails and Forest Giant trails. I didn't manage to catch the creatures of the night show. But if you have the chance, it is a must-go! Seeing the animals perform and demonstrating their survival skills, I am sure you will be amazed!

After a long day, it’s time to head back home. Don’t forget to get a souvenir and I hope the journey had been an exciting one for you as it was for me!
